Matrix enables the future oriented DCI with Huawei OptiX DC908

NAP Info Lintas Nusa (Matrix NAP Info) is a prominent telecommunication company located in Jakarta. Since its establishment in 2000, it is committed to providing Indonesia with high-quality networks, data center colocation, and world-class communications solutions for its ever-growing lines of clients. The products include Matrix Cable Systems, Matrix Cable Internet Switching Center (MC-IX), Matrix Data Center, and Matrix Internet. A pioneer in its field, NAP Info was the first neutral, independent network access provider to operate in Indonesia, and its Matrix Cable system was Indonesia's first privately owned submarine cable project connecting Jakarta and Singapore. Besides, MC-IX has long served as a gateway for Indonesian domestic providers to other prominent international Internet Exchanges around the world, and is one of Indonesia's Internet Exchanges. With an integrated ecosystem of both Network & Managed Service Provider, Matrix NAP Info has set to commit to delivering solutions for businesses and engineering the future.

| Key Challenges

Faced with increasing data center network bandwidth pressure, NAP Info urgently needs to provide interconnection solutions for its data centers that can meet future service growth requirements. To build a future-oriented data center network, the primary challenge is to ensure that the transmission bandwidth can meet the ever-increasing requirements. In the face of future uncertainty, continuous evolution and flexible expansion solutions are required. In addition, an architecture that is as simple as possible is needed to accommodate compact data center room conditions while maximizing energy consumption. In addition, the data center network should provide a de-specialized deployment and O&M solution to facilitate a quick start and easy O&M.

| Huawei Solution

Huawei suggests using Huawei OptiXtrans DC908 to build a data center network for NAP Info. Huawei OptiXtrans DC908 is an optical-electrical integrated WDM transmission device dedicated to data center interconnection. It helps NAP Info cope with the challenges faced by data center interconnection in the intelligent era.

Ultra-high bandwidth, high integration, evolvable
The DC908 supports ultra-broadband, enabling a single pair of optical fibers to provide a maximum capacity of 96 Tbit/s, with future-proof evolution supports. In the future, the DC908 can upgrade to support the C+L band and higher single-wavelength capacity. In addition, the DC908 supports highly integrated deployment. Optical-layer boards and electrical-layer boards can be deployed in the same subrack, saving half the space. Compatible with IT and CT equipment rooms and can deploy in the same cabinet as IT equipment.

At the optical layer, the DC908 uses N-in-1 boards. One optical-layer board integrates functions of multiple traditional optical-layer boards, such as OA, multiplexing/demultiplexing, add/drop multiplexing, optical monitoring, and optical spectrum analysis. This compact design significantly reduces internal fiber connections at the optical layer and simplifies the optical-layer architecture.

Smart O&M
Traditional WDM systems are developed based on carriers' requirements. The deployment principles are complex. They require a large number of manual operations and high technical requirements. Therefore, the network needs to be configured and commissioned by professional engineers for several days. The DC908 supports one-click automatic deployment, which is friendly to IT personnel. After the IP address is set on the device panel, the DC908 can deploy with one click. Services are available within minutes without manual configuration and commissioning, significantly saving the deployment time.

The DC908 platform combines intelligent chips, advanced algorithms, and real-time optical-layer monitoring to implement intelligent optical fault prediction and precise fault location. Based on the trend and fluctuation, the DC908 platform predicts 90% of gradual faults in advance, implementing passive to proactive O&M. Through intelligent analysis, fault location and demarcation, one alarm is generated for each fault, shortening the troubleshooting time from days to minutes.

| Customer Benefits

After many exchanges, NAP Info recognized the value of the DC908 platform and decided to use the DC908 as the transmission platform for next-generation data center interconnection. NAP Info focused on the following values:

1. Provides flexible and evolvable ultra-high bandwidth and makes full use of optical fibre resources to meet future expansion requirements.

2. The high-integration design saves equipment room space and reduces the overall energy consumption.

3. Easy maintenance. Most fibre faults can be located accurately and quickly, reducing management costs.

| Future Prospect

Huawei DC908 provides a high-quality data center network solution for NAP Info and satisfactory answers to the challenges of DC interconnection in the future. NAP Info has also increased confidence in future market changes by adopting the DC908 solution, providing better network services to its customer base.
