MatriX Teams Up with Huawei to Build an All-Optical JIEXPO

Jakarta International Expo (JIEXPO) has experienced handling national and international events since 2018. Located in the heart of Jakarta, it has an area of 44 hectares, is known as one of the largest exhibition venues in Indonesia. JIEXPO has always committed to provide top-quality service to the organizers, exhibitors and visitors.

| Key Challenges

The expansion of network access requirements brought challenges to the ICT infrastructure of JIEXPO. With the growth of cloud service, north-south traffic increases significantly, and a simplified architecture is necessary for low latency service. Besides, the sharp increase in campus bandwidth requires flexible evolution for broadband/Wi-Fi/IoT access. And last but not least, Efficient O&M for various devices and terminals is requested to reduce dependency on personnel.

Teaming up with Huawei, MatriX provided the FTTO (Fiber to the Office) for JIEXPO. FTTO inherit the technology of home broadband solution FTTH (Fiber to the Home), and become a mature solution for the campus networks. Being flexible, reliable and cost-saving, FTTO can provide the next-generation experience for JIEXPO and its customers.

Simple Structure
FTTO simplified the network by flattening the 3-layer architecture to a 2-layer, which creates direct transmission of various cloud services. The passive optical distribution network (ODN) is adapted in the FTTO solution, which does not need for power supply and saves the space for ELV room, lowers the risk of electronic shock and fire, and due to the excellent transmission performance of optical fibers, the FTTO network can achieve 40km all-optical coverage, which is revolutionary compared with the 100m limit of network cables.

Easy Evolution
Network cables have limits in bandwidth, and the replacement of cables is an important issue for traditional network evolution. For the optical network, the fiber capacity won’t be the bottleneck for network upgrade, the bandwidth increases with services without ODN re-cabling, and the network supports smooth evolution from 10G PON to 50G PON. Apart from that, one fiber can carry multiple services: Security camera, Wi-Fi, IoT, wired network and other services can expand on-demand.

Intelligent O&M
The FTTO network can be easily installed. It takes two steps to configure a passive optical LAN: On-demand service selection and simplified parameter configuration. The optical network terminals also support the plug-and-play feature, provision service in only 1 minute. All the information: connections, status, and locations are visible on the eSight platform, and 100+ KPIs are available. FTTO also support automatic fault demarcation for fiber, power, feeder and branch fiber, and fault ONUs can be recovered by plug-and-play and automatic service recovery for ONUs.

High reliability
Multi-layer protection is available to ensure secure and reliable communication. For information security, the FTTO supports AES-128 encryption and 802.1x authentication. The full-link protection can be deployed to avoid fiber cuts, with switchover time less than 50ms, unperceived by users. Besides, the outdoor ONTs/ONUs have strong environmental adaptability, can work in server environments in –40°C to 55°C wide temperature range, are resistant to 6kV surge and support IP55 proof.
