Airport Cloud Solution

Huawei and Dubai Airports Build a Smart Airport

Huawei has launched an end-to-end airport cloud solution based on cloud computing, Big Data, the Internet of Things (IoT), and other advanced ICT technologies. The solution focuses on airport operation, management, and services to improve the overall efficiency of intelligent analysis systems, as well as airports’ comprehensive service capabilities. By doing so, the solution guarantees safe and efficient airport operations and enables smart services.

Continuous improvements in IT, especially cloud computing technologies, have propelled airports into the cloud era. Driven by new technologies and smart airport development, cloud transformation of airport data centers requires better IT resource utilization. More and more airports worldwide have introduced virtualization and cloud computing technologies based on their particular ICT-based construction needs. However, many airports urgently need to improve their IT capabilities.

Many challenges face airports attempting to improve their ICT capabilities:

Large and Medium Airports

  • A large number of IT systems: Information systems developed in traditional modes are mostly information silos that suffer from difficult data sharing, lack of unified IT resource management and O&M, and low data utilization.
  • Scattered operations data that is difficult to analyze and use: Operations data is obtained from many sources and uses diversified architectures. It is difficult to store and analyze data from various business systems. Data usage and management costs are high.
  • Difficult application deployment and slow service rollout: Lengthy approval processes complicate service deployment.

Small Airports

  • Decentralized infrastructure deployment and relatively traditional architecture lead to low device utilization. Only a few new technologies are adopted.
  • The airport group’s network architecture is complex. Interconnection is unavailable among the member airports and between the management network and production network.
  • The member airports and units invest in the construction of information systems as required, lacking unified planning. The resources are not fully utilized or shared, and may form information silos.

Solution

  • Multiple pools in a single cloud and cloud-and-network synergy ensure smooth airport businesses: Cloud resources are divided into multiple pools, for example, production, security protection, and integrated service pools. Resource pooling ensures smooth service roll-out. SDN-enabled cloud-and-network synergy facilitates flexible management of network resources.

  • Unified resource scheduling, and secure and reliable data storage: Active-active and Disaster Recovery (DR) technologies eliminate data loss. HyperMetro and HyperReplication maximize the security and reliability of airport data.

  • Stable, reliable, and unified storage network supports centralized airport data management: Huawei ManageOne solution provides unified management of cloud data centers, as well as IaaS, PaaS, data, DR, and security services.
