Welcome to the future financial world

Financial disintermediation, interest liberalization, and Internet finance have hindered commercial banks’ business expansion. In response, the commercial banks are launching Internet finance, Big Data, and customer experience strategies in an effort to regain their leadership of the market. However, their traditional IT systems cannot meet new service requirements due to the number of devices that all need to comply with a single unified standard, an overly long resource delivery cycle, and IT O&M automation.

  • A large number of devices and a single unified standard. For example, a large bank will often have to manage thousands of computing nodes, hundreds of storage sets, and many different kinds of software and hardware components. In light of this, how is a bank going to protect historical investment and enable all devices to smoothly enter the cloud, as is needed to achieve the standardization of IT resources?
  • The delivery cycle of basic resources is long. Under traditional models, current banks normally use three-layer Web-App-DB architecture cluster. Before a new service system can be rolled out, it must first go through the application development, network, server, and technology support departments, and complete over 50 additional steps. The entire cycle takes about 3 months. This long delivery cycle leads to financial products being outdated by the time they reach the market. With today’s fierce competition, it is easy to miss the opportunity to get new customers, leading to a low share of the product market.
  • IT O&M automation. Banks’ IT O&M personnel spend most of their time deploying new systems, handling system faults and frequent changes in configurations, and other complex work. At the same time, these tasks are mostly manual operations, increasing the possibility of error. Banks’ IT facilities often feature inadequate firewalls. Said firewalls involve over 20,000 policy configurations and changes per year number in the tens of thousands.

The Huawei FusionSphere cloud OS uses API interfaces to enable resource sharing that features high efficiency, convergence, and openness.

  • Through the service catalog, rapid system deployment is achieved. Previously taking 1 to 2 months, applications will now take about one day to go online. A single application node will only need a few minutes to go online.
  • The application system automatically expands according to service pressures. During service peaks, minute-level detection triggers expansion and alleviates peak pressure. Some lightweight databases use virtual machines to shorten service interruption time by quickly modifying virtual machine specifications.
  • Equipment costs are lowered by substituting specialized equipment with universal x86 servers. Through the multi-level, high availability Financial Cloud solution, service system availability is guaranteed.

Cloud Management Platform Layer

The platform provides users with application service catalogs. Users can leverage these catalogs for service distribution and fast service deployment. Service provision, reclamation, query, changes, and other functions can be performed through the northbound interface of FusionSphere OpenStack.

IaaS Service Catalog

The service catalog provides a single function catalog externally, and performs service scheduling and dispatching internally. This allows O&M personnel to schedule and manage heterogeneous computing, storage, and networking resources in an end-to-end, one-click, self-service mode. The northbound interface is a community-based OpenStack interface that decouples resource management from basic infrastructure. The resource scheduling layer is implemented by FusionSphere OpenStack — an enterprise version of the OpenStack community, enhanced and stabilized by Huawei. Its two main functions include:

  • Basic services: Provides the most basic installation, deployment, and O&M abilities for FusionSphere OpenStack. This mainly includes installation, deployment, log management, time management, backup, recovery, upgrading, and patches.
  • OpenStack: Based on native OpenStack, computing expansion, storage, and network plug-ins. Supports open-source community modules like Keystone, Nova, Cinder, Neutron, Ironic, Glance, Ceilometer, and Heat. Cloud Operating System

Cloud Operating System

The unified management and scheduling of heterogeneous computing, storage, and network resources forms a pool of available resources after classification, optimization, and integration. Huawei FusionCompute creates and manages the computing resource pool to provide computing virtualization capability. FusionStorage creates and manages the distributed storage resource pool. OceanStor DJ creates and manages the centralized storage resource pool. Agile Controller, a Huawei SDN controller, creates and manages the network resource pool.

Infrastructure Access Layer

This layer includes physical data center computing, storage, and network resources. It also supports servers, storage, and network equipment from mainstream manufacturers, helping financial institutions achieve unified management of existing equipment.
